Happy Thanksgiving week! I know everyone has been saying it, but I can’t believe the holidays are already here- so crazy.
With the holiday season upon us, there will no doubt be endless, parties, eating and drinking to be had. The holidays are a tough time to stay healthy and active. Recently, I’ve been getting more into hiking in the off-season. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, I HATE being cold. I’m adjusting to these cold outdoor activities, but there have been quite a few accessories purchased to fight the cold. Oregon is such a beautiful place all year round, and it’s been neat to see my favorite spots during all the seasons. Getting outside, playing in the snow etc, can be a great way to beat the holiday temptations. Make sure to be prepared for weather changes, fallen trees and branches and icy roads- it can be dangerous in certain places if you aren’t prepared. Most of the trails in Oregon aren’t maintained in the winter time, so storms that come through can leave surprises, but it’s quite the adventure.
Kristi and I headed up to Mirror Lake and Trillium Lake to search for some snow and hike around in the beautiful weather we had over the weekend. Check out our pictures!
Also, Thanks to Naked Juice for sponsoring this post. I’ve brought Naked Juice along on the last couple of my hikes. It’s a great way to refresh and get a little energy boost when you are feeling exhausted. Check out the photos from our hike, including my cold weather hiking essentials!
Enjoy!
Have a wonderful time with your families this week.
Love,
Rachel xo

I was working on holiday crafts this morning and it felt like I had just put the decorations away last year. With you that it is shocking they are here!

The shots with Mt Hood reflecting off of the lake are just gorgeous! I've been unlucky in that every time I do go out there it is cloudy so I am still seeking that reflection photo myself.

Fall and winter are my favorite times to hike around Portland. I especially love Tunnel Falls – I used to hike there at least once a season, it was so fun to watch the forest change as the year progressed. Hope you have happy holidays, Rachel!

Gorgeous photos!! I'm with you: I hate being cold, and have definitely learned the importance of good outdoor gear over the years. BTW, when I was sick a few weeks ago, I totally relied on Naked Juice, Booster C to help nurse me back to health. I love Naked Juice products!

I love "winter hiking" although with all the sun and color this is like winter/fall and that is EVEN BETTER. what beautiful shots. Refreshing to see this among all the food and wine talk….reminds me to get my butt in gear.
