Happy Summer! The weather in the Pacific Northwest is making me feel like we live in Southern California (and I’m not mad about it!). D and I have been doing a ton of traveling lately, we were out of Oregon for 20 days in July- phew. Once we were finally back together in Oregon, we knew a trip to the coast was in order. We packed our bags and headed west.
This time we were generously hosted by The Salishan Resort. The resort is located just outside of Lincoln City, Oregon right off historic highway 101. To be honest, I went to the Salishan Resort about 15 years ago and was eager to go back. A lot has changed in 15 years. The hotel had a major overhaul, and the results are stunning.
The Room
The room was possibly my favorite part of the Salishan. I know that’s a pretty loaded statement, but it was SO perfect for an Oregon Coast vacation. I love the rustic atmosphere paired with the modern amenities a luxe resort needs. The cedar planked ceilings, fireplace, and rocking chairs on the deck only added to my love affair with this place. D even said he thought the beds were some of the most comfortable he’d slept on in a long time.
The Dining
To be honest, the Oregon Coast isn’t considered to be a foodie destination, but I will say I was impressed with the food and menus at the Salishan Resort! The ingredients are locally sourced, in season and most importantly delicious! They have several different Dining options throughout the property. D and I really enjoyed The Attic. It has a lovely outdoor area with sunset views (can you beat that?) I also liked the new coffee cart in the lobby, serving fresh pastries (amazing!!) and Stumptown coffee. During the summer The Salishan is offering many different summer activities; Doggy happy hours, nightly smores roasting, and welcome drink in the lobby. All of which, you should participate in if possible!
The Amenities
The Salishan offers a variety of amazing amenities for resort guests. They have an indoor pool, walking paths, outdoor rentals and more on a regular basis. They also have some special summer activities such as an art walk, meditation, sunrise, and sunset yoga- it’s safe to say, you could never leave the property and have a full schedule! BUT in the event you do leave the property, they also offer a world-renowned golf course and spa. D did spend one day golfing and we both spent an amazing afternoon at the spa. The spa is stunning. It’s everything you’d expect- and a bit more. Peaceful, tranquil, and luxurious. It made for a wonderful afternoon.
The Sunsets
As you may have figured out by now, sunsets seem to play a part in all of our travels. D and I both love the ocean and there is nothing better (or more romantic) than a sunset stroll. The Salishan offers trails that lead to the beach- so you too can have your own perfect end to each day in paradise!
Our trip to the Salishan Resort was a perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of Portland. It’s in such a great location on the coast, you can use it as a launchpad into the perfect Oregon Coast vacation. We hope to see you there very soon!
Love,
Rachel
