It’s officially Summer! The weather in the Pacific Northwest has been incredible for the start of summer, and I’m here for it. I’m back with another travel post with my partner in crime Brittany, from Pumps and Plaid. We have been doing a ton of traveling lately, check out our posts for Walla Walla, Bend, and McMinnville too.
This time we were generously hosted by The Skamania Lodge in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge for a relaxing girls weekend getaway. The resort is located just outside of Stevenson, Wa right off the historic Bridge of the Gods. It’s the perfect hub for your outdoor adventures in the gorge, wine tasting in Hood River, or just a relaxing getaway from the city. To be honest, I went to Skamania Lodge about 5 years ago and was eager to go back. A lot has changed in 5 years. The hotel had a major overhaul, and the results are stunning.
The Room
The rooms at Skamania Lodge recently had a huge overhaul. I love the Pacific Northwest touches they added with the renovations. My room also had a fireplace and (the best part) a STUNNING view. When booking, make sure you get a room with a river view. It’s the best part about the Lodge!
The Dining
I was surprised at how much the food impressed me at Skamania Lodge. Thinking back, there is practically zero fried food (entrees) on the menu. They have a focus on fresh, local flavors and the service staff was beyond friendly. There are indoor and outdoor dining options, which are perfect for those warm summer nights overlooking the gorge.
The Amenities
Skamania Lodge offers a variety of amazing amenities for resort guests. They have an indoor pool, fitness loop walking paths, and beautiful workout facility with Peleton bikes! They also have quite the variety of outdoor activities included an aerial park, zip line, and ax throwing! Brittany and I got to enjoy the Skamania Lodge spa. Our massage was so relaxing and a perfect way to relax as part of our girls weekend getaway. Last but not least, Skamania recently added an events pavilion to the property. It’s a stunning event space overlooking the beautiful Columbia River. Perfect for a wedding, corporate event etc.
The Gorge
There are an endless number of hiking trails, outdoor activities, and towns to explore in the gorge. Hood River is only about 20 min from Skamania and has incredible restaurants and shopping. The Gorge is one of the crown jewels of the Pacific Northwest, and truly a place like no other. While we were at Skamania Lodge, we did the Dry Creek Falls hike as well as had dinner at pFriem in Hood River.
Our trip to Skamania Lodge was a perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of Portland. It’s in such a great location in the gorge, you can use it as a launchpad into your outdoor adventure. We hope to see you there very soon!
Love,
Rachel
