this weekend is that special day of the year where we get to celebrate the most important men in our lives. as i have said often i am not sure how i got so lucky in this life. not only did i get one amazing dad, but as luck would have it i got another. looking back at my life so far, i can’t imagine either of them not being in it.
they have shaped me into the person i am today. they have taught me lessons and held my hand when i couldn’t do it alone. i appreciate all the sacrifice and tears we have been through together. and i love that through thick and thin they have unwavering support in all my choices.
Dave: some how, some where, you walked into my and my families lives. and since that first day when sam and i ran out into the parking lot of canyon park apartments to meet you- i don’t think i would have had it any other way. you have made all of our lives much better than any of us could have imagined. you also take such good care of my mom and the rest of us that i will be forever grateful for your kindness. you have let us into your amazing family & friends that we now can call our own. you have introduced me to one of my favorite places on earth- maine- which feels like home to me now. for me personally, you are my role model. like i’ve told you, many times i think “what would dave do?” your success in life and work ethic are things i now strive to achieve. i don’t tell you enough how happy i am to have you in my life and glad that i am your “favorite” haha (sorry sam). thank you again and again for your love, support, and guidance. you will always have a big spot in my heart I love you so much and always will.
Dad: where to even start- we have had so many memories, adventures, struggles, and victories together. you have made me laugh harder than anyone else in the world. sometimes i feel like what we have isn’t a conventional father-daughter relationship, but rather one we have made our own and made it so special. you are my best friend. you take so much pride when i succeed and take my failures on as your own. you don’t ever let me take the easy way out. and i have learned many of life’s toughest and best lessons with you by my side. i learned my love for adventure, building strong friendships, and faith in others from you. all of those things are qualities of myself that i love the most. living with you last year was one of my favorites times with you, because i really got to know you. it was just the two of us. i wouldn’t have traded it for any wild worldwide vacation. thank you for everything you have done and will do. the memories we have made together as a family are what legends are made of. and no one will know all of truth except us. Love you from day one until the end. my hero.
You are both amazing men. I love you both forever.
Love, Daddy’s girl
