Life has been a little stressful lately. But that’s how life goes. There are ups and downs, the most important thing is how you navigate it. One thing I love doing when life gets too overwhelming is to get outside. That’s just what I did a couple weeks ago. Planned out a trip with one of my favorite people in the world and went for an adventure.
I’m lucky I live in a part of the world where this is my “backyard.” I have written many times about the gorge and it’s glory. Today will be no different. We headed out to Dry Creek Falls. I will admit I told J that it meant the waterfall was dried up at the end. Just to add to a little surprise. 🙂
“It had nothing to do with gear or footwear or the backpacking fads or philosophies of any particular era or even with getting from point A to point B.
It had to do with how it felt to be in the wild. With what it was like to walk for miles with no reason other than to witness the accumulation of trees and meadows, mountains and deserts, streams and rocks, rivers and grasses, sunrises and sunsets. The experience was powerful and fundamental. It seemed to me that it had always felt like this to be a human in the wild, and as long as the wild existed it would always feel this way.”

Rachel – where exactly is that? It looks absolutely amazing – and yes, getting outside is my happy place too makes everything better. I have been a little stressed as well and definitively will need to get out this weekend. Dry Creek Falls looks like the perfect place.

Love all the photos, particularly the one with the dog on the bridge tongue caught in mid swing, and the one with the feet including doggy feet! There is something so relaxing about getting away from the city into nature to calm your spirit… I also find eavesdropping on other people's lives at happy hour bar also relaxing to me as a different kind of escape :X
