This week I found myself in Salem, Oregon. Although, it is the state’s capital, I don’t find myself there often. I reached out to fellow blogger and friend, Sam Lewis (Rosen) for help, because she is a local. She gave me a great little coffee shop to work in called Archive. It was super cute and trendy! I loved it. I will admit, I was super crunched for time and had a ton of work to do- so I missed out on any photo opportunities.
There was one place I was dying to try in Salem ever since Feast Portland last year, Gilgamesh! I tried their beer at Feast and have been drinking is as often as I can ever since. My favorite beer is the Mamba- It’s FANTASTIC. The perfect summer beer! I find mine at Zupans, but you need to try this.

When I realized I would be in the hometown of my favorite beer on earth, I had to stop in and try more. (please excuse the iphone photos- I was in a rush, but wanted to snap a couple pictures!) The brewery itself was quite the little compound. I could see all the beer being made as I walked in the restaurant. Then inside it had the typical brewery feel. Lots of wood and cool vibe. They also had an amazing patio- perfect place to spend a summer day/night. The beers were also all very tasty. I’m usually a picky beer drinker and in my flight I opted out of the super dark beer, but I loved all the beers I tried. They are so smooth, which was the original reason I was drawn to the Mamba. I will admit, the Mamba still has the #1 place in my heart. I highly, highly recommend going to Gilgamesh, or at least snagging up some Mamba next time you are in the grocery aisle.

I've heard good things about this place! I agree I don't find myself down in Salem very often but maybe will have to add this as a stop whenever we head to Eugene or somewhere down south! And probably Archive, that place looks awesome – coffee shop by day, bar by night? I'm in love.
I am going camping next weekend out near Salem with a group of friends. I'm going to suggest that we swing by Gilgamesh (by the way, how cool of a name is that??). Yay! Thanks for sharing, cheers! 🙂
When I drank, this was one of my favorite breweries, simply for the fact that they had an Earl Grey beer – Mamba.
