Sound the trumpets! Ring the alarms! Hit the gong! You NEED TO READ THIS POST.
So I have been wanting to go to this new little restaurant for months….
okay wait, wait… I need a disclaimer in here–> I am obsessed with all things Asian soups. Give me broth, noodles, veggies/meat, and a poached egg and you can be 100% sure I will over the moon.
okay back to the review- So I have been wanting to try Boxer Ramen for a couple months. I saw an article about it on Eater PDX (if you love the Portland food scene, you need to follow them! Find the article here.)
My partner in Asian broth goodness is Clare- she gets down on some noodle-y dishes also. So of course, we had to try it together.
As you walk into Boxer Ramen, the menu is up on the walls…short and sweet. We needed a little clarification on some of the items, but the staff was more than happy to help explain the menu in detail before we made our choices.
So we started with some solid beverages…(p.s they do serve alcohol as well.)
Next we ordered an appetizer. Okonomiyaki tots. Which were tater tots, spicy mustard, some kind of aoli and shaved pork… (so long new years resolutions!)
Clare ordered the “house specialty” Tonkotsu-Shio which was a pork broth, ramen, poached egg and secret goodness added I’m sure of it.
I orderd the Shiitaki- shoyu. Pork broth, ramen, poached egg, and more of the secret goodness (Positive its in there).
Pretty sure I can say we were in noodle heaven.
and if that wasn’t enough…they had mo-chi! We got the coconut.
If you like ramen, or noodle soup, or being a good person- you need to get into Boxer Ramen. It might be one of the best dishes I’ve had in Portland. The line starts early- so get there about 5-10 min before opening for the best chance at a window seat.
Boxer Ramen is located 1025 SW Stark (right by Powells Books) in Union Way.
Find out more on their website too.
Loved it! NEED MORE.
Love, finding new favorites xo

OMG that looks so good! Get that in my mouth, so comforting! I haven't been there yet but it's on my list… that cash only thing is a pain so it needs to coincide when I've visited the grocery store for cash back. Great post! I like ramen, and I want to be a good person!
