I sat down to do a Q&A type post for today and then I was scrolling through some of my daily reads and saw Jane’s post on In the Pink and Green on 20 questions.
I read her post and liked those questions a lot better. These questions came from Marie Claire’s interview with Sarah Jessica Parker.
So let’s get started!
1. What brings you the greatest joy?
My friends, my family, Drew, my pets. Typical answer but honestly, usually life isn’t a fair or easy affair and with a solid system of support and unconditional love will get you through just about anything life throws your way.
2. What are your vices?
A good pizza. Lush cosmetics stores. Root beer floats. Fall shopping. Buying magazines from the store every month instead of getting subscriptions. Nordstrom.
3. What is on your nightstand?
Hmm right now- my lamp, a water glass, my tablet, and an electric wax warming candle Drew gave me for my birthday.
4. Do you have a secret talent?
Uhh… if I told you it wouldn’t be a secret.
5. What is your greatest indulgence?
Spending money on events/trips/dining out with my friends and family. I am not very good at saving money over long periods. I like spending it on things that make my life extraordinary now. Not to be a buzzkill, but what if some baby deer runs in front of my car and swerve and die tomorrow- Hey at least I can say I got to see the world, have adventures with my friends and ate well. I won’t care then if I have a ton of money in my bank account. Although, some people might ha!
6. What should every woman try at least once in her life?
I think every woman should read “The Paris Wife.”(read my review here). I think every woman should take a vacation by herself. I know this isn’t always “safe,” but I’m not telling you to take a trip to Bosnia- a weekend at the coast or NYC or something a little more tame- if you are worried about safety. I took a trip to England and spent a weekend on my own- and it is very self reflective and empowering. (read more about that here.)
7. What makes you laugh?
Drew makes me laugh everyday. Usually making me laugh at myself- which is something I’ve gotten better at since meeting him. Winston (my cat) makes me laugh- because she is so curious and gets into everything and loves to think she is a ferocious tiger in the amazon.
8. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Most of the time I have no idea what I’m doing. I am the biggest proponent of “fake it ’till you make it.” Usually, people expect a lot- and I hate letting people down, even strangers. So I usually don’t let fear or unknowns stop me- I just hit the ground running and figure things out as the come. Rolling with the punchesssss.
9. What is on your bucket list?
– Fish Picture (would like it to be a salmon or marlin or shark) If you need more clarification on this- A fish picture is one of those photos people take when they catch a fish and someone takes their picture holding the fish up.
– Seeing the Northern Lights.
– Going island hopping in the south pacific
– Visiting every continent (well maybe not antarctica, I don’t like being cold)
– Becoming a great cook
10. What is on your feet right now?
Nike power elite socks (best socks ever), and over the knee boots from Nordstrom (see vices above).
11. How did you make your first dollar?
Probably babysitting my little brother. We spent A LOT of time together as little kids. (Sam, does One Hand In my Pocket ring a bell?)
12. What superstition do you believe in?
D. All…. I am VERY superstitious. I always touch the outside of the plane as I get on and off. I always text my mom from my plane seat before I take off. I never say “game point” in a volleyball match. I don’t like opening umbrellas inside, walking under ladders, always lock the front door…(I sound a little nuts…..)
13. What items in your closet do you wear the most?
Tall boots (see vices)
Oversized flannel shirt (see any photo from my Europe trip with Addie and Judy)
My down jacket (I hate being cold)
Crew neck sweatshirts
Black leggings
14. What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
Life from my parents- HA just kidding. (well sort of)- Probably my first DSLR from my Dad. It kick- started my love for taking photos.
15. What is on your liquor shelf?
I don’t just have a shelf- I have a bar cart. Which as most of my friends would tell you, is my favorite thing in my house. I saw bar carts on Glitter Guide and Pinterest and I knew I needed one. Maybe I will do a “What’s on my bar cart post”. Wait, does that make me sound like an alcoholic? Oh well. Currently it has 4-5 bottles of wine, Maker’s Mark, Crown Royal, Pimms, Fireball, Limoncello that Claire brought me from Italy, and vodka (DUH bloody mary’s)
16. What is on your kitchen counter?
A KEURIG! I asked for one for Christmas I got this one. An electric kettle. Kristi’s vintage kitchen aid mixer, more wine.
17. What would you never leave home without?
Pants? Isn’t that what everyone should say?? Besides being fully clothed- I usually want my cellphone and a camera. Maybe my cat, but Drew says you don’t walk cats. What does he know.
18. What movie has the greatest ending?
The Wizard of Oz…it was all a dream.
19. Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?
Judy Faulk
Drew
Jackie Robinson
Frank Sinatra
Beyonce
Blake Lively
Tim Gunn
Aziz Ansari
Alternate: Darth Vader
Now I really want that to happen.
20. What is one thing you wish you had known when you were younger?
To travel at any given opportunity. See the world as early as you can start. It is a wonderful place and the older you get the fewer and far between those opportunities arise.
And probably to never have a root beer float, unless you want to become addicted (see vices)
Ok! Now I want to hear your answers! Comment below and answer the same questions!
