I’ve heard tales of the Sisters Rodeo for years now. Living in Oregon, there are certain events that have a loyal attending audience. Sisters Rodeo is one of those events. I know people who are religious about going to all the events that span over 3-4 days of the second weekend in June. D is from Sisters so as you can imagine, one of the rodeo’s biggest fans. I’ve never been to the Sisters Rodeo, so it was about time to change that.
D was in Alaska for the wed/thurs events so Friday we headed east to Sisters Oregon. Central Oregon is beautiful. Mountains in almost every direction your look. It is one of my favorite places, usually to go relax- although, this weekend was going to be far from relaxing. Claire and Nolan had also never been to “The biggest little show in the world” and wanted to partake in the weekend.
We arrived and quickly headed to the rodeo grounds for the Friday night events. While the photos below look nice- it was FREEZING. Gotta power through.
Saturday morning some of us took a little longer to get going…(ahem D). The rodeo events on Saturday started 7p so we had the day to relax and sit on the deck. We played some friendly games of cards and then headed to the rodeo grounds for some tailgating.
Losers did push-ups, obviously.
“Cowboy Up”
Sunday afternoon it was just D and I at the rodeo’s final event. We had better seats which made the rodeo pretty fun and you can see how freakin’ crazy these guys really are.
Buckin’ Broncs were first!
Then came, what probably was my favorite part of the rodeo (big surprise).
THE BABIES
Omgosh. I died.
Okay next the main event! Bulls! THIS IS INSANE.
Okay- this is a good sequence of photos. I know there are a lot, but it’s worth it! Gives you a little taste of the action! This is one cowboy’s bull ride.
Nuts. You couldn’t pay me enough.
(P.S no one was hurt in the making of this blog post!)
Overall it was a blast. I was so happy D took us to to his home town and showed us the ropes. I have a feeling he made a follower out of all of us that weekend. I can’t wait to go back! Sisters Rodeo 2015!
Love, Rachel xo

I really can't get behind the idea of rodeosāperhaps I'm ignorant, but I don't think many of the events are kind to the animalsābut I would like the foal run, I bet.
