I love trying new places in Portland, I actually have a list.
Roman Candle Bakery has been on my list for a while. When Claire asked to do brunch one Saturday, I jumped at the chance to suggest Roman Candle Bakery.
Roman Candle Bakery is located on Division (seriously that area is teeming with great places). It’s a very cute and unique looking joint. I loved the decor and of course the pastry cases!!
Here is the menu! It was so hard to choose. Between the menu and pastry case!
We ended up going with the Sourdough Pancake with blackberries, Hair Bender (Stumptown) Cream and the Everything Bun with steamed Duck egg, Aged Cheddar and Sausage.
And of course coffee.
Overall it was pretty good. The Pancake was really good. It wasn’t too sweet and tasted so fresh. I loved the freshness of the ingredients. The Everything Bun was good too, but as Drew would say, “it needed more sauce.” In the photos you can see a side of hot sauce, but it would have been nice to have a good spread on the inside of the bun too. The yolk did still have a soft center, but it took a while to get to it. ha!
None the less, it was a great brunch. The staff was helpful and the placed looked so cute! I’ve heard I need to come back and try the pizza!
Have you tried Roman Candle Bakery? What did you order?

OMG that everything bun looks AMAZING. I probably would have carefully spread some sauce after each bite to prepare the next bite…
Thanks for the great review. Can't wait to try it.

I'm the opposite – I've gone in for pizza but have been dying to check out their brunch! I am such a pancake fan and that one looks real good. I want that Nutella on toast on the menu too! Yum-o.
