This post is super duper overdue. It’s going to be a long one too, so grab a cup of coffee and make yourself at home.
To start off, let me give you some background info:
My mom married my step-dad, Dave, when I was in high school. Dave’s family are born and raised Bostonians, (hence my Beantown post). Growing up his family vacationed in Maine. When he became part of my family, he wanted to share that same experience with my brother and I. We started going half way across the country, for a week every summer to: York Beach Maine.
It’s been about 12-13 years since I started coming to YBM. There is something about this place I can’t explain. It’s charm and laid back style just gets right into your soul and all your worries disappear. ( No this isn’t Margaritaville). The slogan for the state of Maine is, “Worth a Visit, Worth a Lifetime.” That sums it up perfectly.
Trip begins! Red eye into NYC. Sure looks good in the morning! Now on to Boston—> Maine!
We made it to York Beach! First evening walk on the beach with the family!
Mom and Dave!
Next morning, another tradition continues: The Julie Lyons Special aka mom cooks breakfast.
Max hoping for some bacon.
Then of course, mimosas! I mean, this is vacation…
Now it’s time for the beach! Mom also makes everyone their special sandwich.
One of the days my uncle David took Drew and I fishing!!
Then of course. Lobstah Dinnah. This is another Maine tradition. The meal usually consists of lobster, corn on the cob and clams. We have added mac n’ cheese. Thanks to my little brother. ha!
Lastly, another YBM gem is Nubble Lighthouse. We have to stop every week and take the obligatory photos!
York Beach Maine is a very special place to me. It brings me happiness and helps clear my mind. I love this place with my whole heart. Can’t wait to keep coming back to this amazing place.
Until next time…I’ll be missing YBM.
Worth a Visit, Worth a Lifetime.
Love, Rachel xo

What great pictures! I've only been up to Kittery (to the outlet malls), but I'd love to visit Maine again sometime and really explore!

I miss summer already, this seems like such a relaxing vacation. It's on my bucket list to go to Maine… but it is not because of family but because I loooove lobster rolls and want to road trip through eating them. I will have to find some time to just sit back and relax like your family did between lobster rolls though!
