Wedding Series: We’re Engaged

As I said in my last post, I had big news! We’re ENGAGED!

I can’t believe I am writing this post, but YES we are engaged. I’m SO excited.

About Us:

D and I met at an office of a previous job. I worked with his older brother. According to D the story goes: ” I walked into your office to see my brother and you were drinking a beer at your desk and I thought- that’s the one.” While my memory doesn’t quite remember it that way, its a good insight into our fun, happy, little adventure. We have been dating for almost 3.5 years and now- will be together forever.

Proposal Story:

Every year I like going to the Woodburn Tulip Festival. Due to its popularity, we try to go on a weekday vs. a weekend. This year we happened to pick Friday, April 1 (yes April Fools Day). It was a beautiful spring day so I was weary it was going to be packed. Once we got to Woodburn, we parked and noticed most of the people were gathered around 1-2 fields of tulips. We trekked out to a farther field, away from all the hustle and bustle. I started snapping pictures (which I love to do) and all of a sudden, D became very chatty, which is uncharacteristic for him. I kept thinking “Why are you so talkative? This is a peaceful place. SSSHHHH.” Finally I noticed a little bench right in the middle of the tulips. I said “Hey should we go sit on that bench?” “YES”, D replied. We headed over to the bench and I sat down. D remained standing and started give his speech. Yet all I was thinking was, “Why are you standing over me?” Ha! Then he got down on one knee and I thought “OH THIS!” It was perfect.

I’m so happy with how he asked, it was so “us.” No one else was around, we were outside in a beautiful place and it was a gorgeous Pacific NW day. I couldn’t ask for more. We took a couple pictures I wanted to share with you.

I have already jumped feet first into planning and will be sharing tidbits of the process with you here. I’m still over the moon and can’t wait to start this journey together. We are so excited to be engaged and enjoy this time in our lives. THANK YOU to everyone who has supported both D and I in some way- we’ve been so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family. You mean the world to us both.
