The sun is coming out, we are wearing brighter colors and just in time- restaurants are bringing in the spring menu changes.
I was invited to test out the new cocktail menu from Hotel deLuxe‘s Driftwood Room. They are doing a wonderful job pairing up with some of Portland’s best local vendors. Their new line-up includes products like Bee Local honey, Smith Teamaker hibiscus tea, Salt & Straw salted caramel ice cream and Jacobsen Salts.
I’m going to just say that these were AMAZING. Each one was unique in flavor and taste. They are mixing up something for everyone.
1. The Driftwood Sazerac- $11
2 dashes Pacifique Absinthe
2 oz Bulleit Rye
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
2. Floating Straw- $10
Top with Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter
3. Local Honey
1 1/2 Aria gin
1/2 oz Farigoule French wild thyme liqueur
3/4 oz Bee Local honey
1 oz fresh lemon juice
4. Ghost in the Machine- $11 (my fav! careful it’s spicy)
1 oz Volstead vodka
1/2 oz Hot Monkey vodka
3/4 oz Aperol
1/2 oz pureed blood orange
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1/4 oz basil simple syrup
*garnish with Jacobsen Ghost Chili salted rim
All the drinks are amazing. BOLD flavors and fresh ingredients. Really amazing job. Which is your favorite?!
