My birthday plans were a little different this year, since Drew was going to be out of town on my real birthday we decided to celebrate early. Drew had heard me say I wanted to spend the night at Edgefield a couple times, so he booked us a room!
If you haven’t been to Edgefield, it’s a sweet place. It’s off I-84 East into the Gorge. (About 30 min from Portland) It’s a huge compound with a hotel, golf course, several bars and restaurants AND a spa! As with most McMenamins establishments there is some history about this place as well.
“Historic Edgefield, built in 1911 as the county poor farm, is a destination resort in the Pacific Northwest that blends Oregon’s natural beauty with McMenamins’ signature whimsy: original buildings carefully restored with cozy interiors, gardens grown using organic methods, great food and drink, live entertainment and more.
There are rocking chairs on all the porches for spending long afternoons.
We checked in and went to grab a drink.
McMenamins is also known for having a great spa here. Drew had signed us both up for massages! The spa is called Ruby Spa. They offer everything from massages, facials, pedicures, etc. At Edgefield they also have a soaking pool! You can use it if you get a spa treatment or are a hotel guest.
I didn’t take any good photos of the soaking pool because I was well, in it! ha I found some online for you to swoon over!
It’s salt water (not chlorine) and it’s warm like 96 degrees. AMAZING. After our massages we went to the room to clean up before dinner. My mom and Dave had surprised me with a little gift in our room! Mimosas! Love them.
Then it was time for dinner! There are many places to choose, but I knew I wanted pizza!
After dinner we grabbed our beers and walked around
Then it was BACK to the soaking pool. Such a fun night. Although, if I had to do it again I probably wouldn’t stay the night. The rooms were so-so, but it’s a great option to have if you had a little too much to drink!
You can see Drew is really excited about the pool!
Until next time!
Love,
Rachel xo

Aaah, aren't those porches amazing? Never been out there in the winter and never been to the soaking pool but it sounds fun! We got married at Edgefield and it's nice to go back there and reminisce.
Great photos! Do you know how to size the vertical ones so they are the same width as the horizontal, and centered? It's super easy, if they're full-size just add to the HTML ' width="640px" ' and if they are already sized from your editor/exporting program as 960×640 then just clicl full-size instead of XL!
Looks like it was beautiful weather there, too! You made it look really nice in winter!
