Ahh the Feast dust has finally settled. I’ve gotten closer to my pre-Feast weight, and the withdrawal symptoms have faded. I can finally sit down and reflect on my experience at Feast this year and share my thoughts with you.
I’m going to start with my biggest takeaway from Feast. The Pacific Northwest and beyond has incredible, inspiring and unbelievably talented chefs. The creations, meals, bites, drinks etc, that came out of Feast 2015 blew me away. My hat is off to you chefs- you inspire us all.
My second takeaway is: I am SO proud to be from the Pacific Northwest. We are changing the way the country uses food. Our hyper focus on local, fresh ingredients is contagious. I am so proud of being part of events like Feast which showcase the way in which we are evolving the food game.
My third and final takeaway is: I am so lucky to be surrounded by such intelligent, funny and beautiful people in this PNW food community. The people I met, the friends I’ve made- I am so lucky to spend time with you all. It’s such a blessing to find a community of people who love food, love celebrating talented chefs and lastly respect each other.
That said, My favorite event of Feast 2015 was Night Market. I am addicted to the vibe of this event. I’ve always wanted to travel to Asia and explore the street food vendors. Night Market emulates the same feel. I love being under the lights, watching the sunset over the river and celebrating into the night. Grabbing friends arms and whisking them away to the next bite of innovation.
I will miss the smiles, the laughs, the dance parties, the FOOD, and the people. Until next year Feast, I’ll be missing you.
Love,
Rachel xo
