As you can imagine, life has been a bit crazy lately. We are 2 months away from the wedding. In the past, D and I have taken an early spring vacation. Las Vegas, Palm Springs etc. This is why we chose our wedding date- to keep that tradition alive. Well this Portland weather is making me want Palm Springs right now.
In order to keep things simple in the weeks leading up to the big day, we thought a staycation was a better idea. When AC Hotel Portland reached out to me about a stay at their new Portland location- we loved the idea.
AC Hotel Portland
AC Hotels is a modern lifestyle brand by Marriott. Portland is one of the first US cities to welcome an AC Hotel as the European-style brand expands its footprint. With design inspired by founder Antonio Catalán, a Spanish hotelier, the AC Hotel brand is focused on thoughtful contemporary design where everything has a purpose. The 13-story hotel includes an open space bar and lounge with Portland’s own Water Avenue coffee, craft cocktails featuring local ingredients on tap and a selection of tapas-inspired small plates.
The location of AC Hotel Portland is perfect for visitors. It’s very centrally located and walking distance to shopping, shows, and wonderful food. During our stay we had lunch at Luc Lac Kitchen. A main stay on the Portland food scene. We also strolled over to Powell’s books. It’s nice to be a visitor in your own city. Spend a weekend trying old favorites and exploring new things. It was a relaxing, entertaining and “Portland” weekend.
Huge thanks to AC Hotel Portland for hosting us. The new hotel is lovely!
Love,

A visitor at your own city… Certainly sounds like a good idea to me. Spending time at your old favorite places sounds really relaxing.
Hi Jose- it really was. It felt like a vacation but without getting lost! ha it made for a perfect weekend.
As I am from Europa I would like to visit Portland someday and this place looks so cozy!
You really should. Portland has a lot of European influence!
I’m in love with that bed!
OMG IT WAS AMAZING!
I love staycations, but we usually just stay home – there are so many sweet hotels and B&Bs where I live, so maybe my husband and I should try them out! Loved your photos! I especially loved the bar! – so retro!
You totally should! Even if it’s for 1 night, its so nice to feel treated and “on vacation” for so much less cost than travel
They just opened up an AC Hotel in Atlanta and I cannot wait to check it out. I love Portland so much, it’s my dream city to live in one day!
You should! Let me know how their art is. I’ve heard each hotel had an amazing collection! The Portland collection was amazing.
I’ve heard of the idea of a stay-cation before, but I’ve never really thought to do one. You inspire me to want to though!
Hi Melissa- I know the idea of staycation is new to me too, but it’s so nice. We live outside the city now (bought a new house!) but only 20 min away. I still miss the buzz of the city so it was nice to get back into the heart and explore.
sounds like a fantastic place to stay and i’ve always wanted to visit portland…love the pencil wall and i’m a total geek for books. what a fun staycation!
Portland is such a great city. I’m so in love. The hotel had SUCH an amazing art collection but I agree, the pencil wall was SO neat.
The AC Hotel looks really nice! That’s my kind of hotel. Close to amenities with a restaurant/bar and modern touches. Sounds like it was a relaxing stay.
Hi Kimberly! It really is a nice stay. It felt like the room was modern and everything in the room had a purpose/design. It was relaxing because it felt so well thought out. The bed was also excellent!!
Very nice hotel! I hear all the best about Portland, I’ll be going there this summer. I’m with you on the weather part though lol, I’m taking off to Palm Springs in April 🙂
Loved that you went on a staycation in Portland! I’ve been thinking about doing the same for my hubby and I as a way to get away and spend some quality time together, even if just for 1 night!
I always think about getting a hotel room in Minneapolis for a night or two. 🙂 That hotel looks gorgeous!
Oh how fun! Staycations are the best! I hadn’t heard about this hotel – will be sure to check it out though next time I stay in Portland!
Love the idea of exploring a familiar place through a new lens 🙂
I love Portland and this hotel looks perfect! I’ll definitely look it up when I’m headed back that way!
This hotel looks awesome! Love that pencil artwork!
